The old turntable sits at the northern end of the precinct. In the middle distance is a goods shed and masked by the trees are an assortment of other buildings and items
The Turntable is hand operated and quite manageable if the engine is balanced well. Below is footage of the last steam engine to visit Tenterfield. It got stuck for a moment but helping hands appeared from all sides.
Built in 1890 the historic Barracks provided accomodation for visiting train crews. There were separate bedrooms and shared common areas
More functional additional barracks were added during WWll. It was a very busy time for the Northern Railway
Across from the Barracks is the main station, rolling stock and workshops.
The Trike Shed is where all the weird and wonderful workers’ transport items are on display.
